Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Students and enthusiasts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have many reasons for their interest in this art. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weigh-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While
still others are concerned about safety and self-defense.

Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, Nelumbo Jiu-Jitsu offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well.
Kids Programs
Nelumbo Jiu-Jitsu
School of Self-Defense
This class focus on using the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in self-defense situations. Students will learn how to break falls to prevent head or back injury, defend against common grips like the headlock or bear hug from behind and immobilize an attacker on the ground, reverse an attacker from the bottom position, and force an attacker into submission.  Many law enforcement agencies and military branches find these techniques to be most favorable for their line of work.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for kids, builds confidence and self-esteem as well as self-discipline, respect, concentration and courtesy. Nelumbo Jiu-Jitsu is ideal for children who do not do well in team sports and gives them the ability to flourish in this activity, while combining physical and mental practices. Children with special needs, such as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), learning difficulties and hyperactivity are often recommended to participate in martial arts because of the clear benefits in its structured training techniques.

Submission Grappling
In this class, students learn how to control an opponent, typically through the application of various grappling hold positions. Students are also taught how to counter against other opponent's holds and moves. This class will prepare a martial artist for competition in submission grappling tournaments. There is also a strong influence in this class on the importance of striking an opponent while on the ground for both self-defense purposes and MMA competitive fighting.

Judo
The mission of our Judo program is to impart to our students not only the physical skills of Judo, but also its philosophy. In these classes, students learn how to use a variety of powerful throws, takedowns and sweeps to force the opponent to the ground.

Cardio Kickboxing
